Product Information Tramways of South America is a comprehensive look at the continent's highly varied tramways, showing big-city systems and rambling country trolleys, suburban commuting and interurbans. Car types range from tiny single-truckers (closed and open, even horsecars) through trains of double-truck ex-Pacific Electric interurbans (as well as many other secondhand cars from the US and Europe). The backdrops include crowded city streets (filled with vintage US-built autos), sleepy small towns, mountains, and jungle.
Countries shown include Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Peru. Nearly all systems still operating after World War Two are covered in film footage (predominantly color) shot mostly during the 1950s and 60s: Arequipa, Asunción, Batuco, Buenos Aires, Campinas, Campo Grande, Campos de Jordão, La Paz, La Plata, Lima, Manaus, Mendoza, Niterói, Piracicaba, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Santiago, Santos, São Carlos, São Paulo, and Tirirical.
